De Novo Digital builds and looks after websites for South African law firms and nothing else. It is one person in so whoever designs the site, writes it, builds it and checks it every week is the same person who answers the telephone. We work with firms anywhere in the country.

I am Christo. You deal with me from the first conversation to the week after launch and every week after that. I get to know how the firm actually takes work in, write the pages, build them, and tell you plainly when something you have asked for is a bad idea.
There is no account manager, no ticket queue and nobody to whom your change request gets forwarded. You know who to contact, what happens next, and who is responsible for it. That is worth more to a firm of four attorneys than a larger studio’s process diagram.
It is also the limit of the business, which is why this page says what I will not do further down.

One thing properly instead of everything adequately. A single instruction is worth more to a practice than a year of my fees, so a website that works pays for itself almost at once.

What I will not do
Four rules, and they do not bend.
- South African law firms, and nothing else
- Not medical practices, not accountants, not anybody’s cousin’s restaurant. A single field is the only way one person becomes good at something rather than adequate at everything.
- No legal advice, ever
- And nothing I build may read as though the firm’s website is giving it either. The Legal Practice Act is not a detail to be tidied up after launch.
- No charging by the page
- All your practice areas and all your attorneys, however many that is. A firm that has more to say should not be penalised for saying it.
- I never hold your domain
- It is registered in the firm’s name on the first day. There is no version of a disagreement between us in which I am holding something of yours.
